

The final layer to an AM routine. Cleanse, moisturise and SPF are the minimum steps you can take to improve your skin if you’re not into having an elaborate routine.
Sun damage is one of the main causes of premature ageing and pigmentation. There is literally no point in having a beautiful skin routine and tackling skin conditions such as ageing, pigmentation, dryness, craping if you are not going to wear a daily SPF. You are undoing all of your hard work leaving out that layer of protection.
When looking for an SPF there’re some key things to look out for. You need to be getting a ‘broad-spectrum’ SPF this simply means it will protect your skin against UVA and UVB rays.
‘Mineral’ sun protection means that the SPF contains ingredients such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, this simply means they work by actually absorbing the suns harmful rays. These SPF's work by sitting on top of the skin and physically blocking and reflecting harmful rays.
Another thing to remember is that layering low SPF’s doesn’t give you more protection, for example applying an SPF 30 and then applying a foundation with an SPF in it isn’t going to give you a double layer of protection. I would always apply an SPF 50 or higher regardless of any other products you are using, this will give your skin the ultimate layer protection it needs.
